Offering Patient Care Technician Programs

A patient care technician is responsible for providing assistance to doctors, nurses, and other support staff while interacting directly with the patient. The patient care technician has the most direct contact with the patient and is a critical member of the healthcare team.

The PCT course is focused on providing students the knowledge and hands-on training needed to master basic nurse Aide, Phlebotomy, and EKG skills. They will learn to perform technical skills with emphasis on performing personal care to complex implementation of selected portions of care plans, including respiratory services, rehabilitation services, EKG, and Phlebotomy under the supervision of registered nurses.

PCT Training Course

Students who complete and successfully pass the PCT training course can work as a patient care technician in any healthcare facilities such as laboratories, hospitals, blood banks, private Phlebotomy services, doctor’s offices, clinics, etc. Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to take a certification test provided by non-governmental agencies like NHA to become a certified patient care technician.

Students will also qualify to take the State of Illinois' Basic Nurse Aide Competency Exam and be listed in the Healthcare Nursing Assistant Registry List.
